Training Diary 2021: Continuing Knowledge Sharing During The Pandemic
The year 2021 marked another challenging period as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to affect the way we worked, learned, and interacted. While movement restrictions had eased compared to the previous year, physical training programmes were still limited by health protocols, gathering restrictions, and social distancing requirements.
As a result, online training remained the most practical and effective platform for delivering professional development programmes related to Quality Management Systems (QMS) in Construction.
Training Activities in 2021
Throughout 2021, I continued collaborating with several training providers to deliver Quality Management System programmes to construction professionals across Malaysia.
The year's training activities included:
9 training sessions organised by ICM
2 training sessions organised by Hasara Solutions
67 participants trained throughout the year
The online platform continued to provide opportunities for participants from different geographical locations to attend the programmes without the need for travel.
Continuous Improvement Through Participant Feedback
One of the improvements introduced in 2021 was the implementation of a structured participant feedback system using the Jotform platform. For the first time, feedback forms were distributed electronically at the end of each session, allowing participants to provide comments and suggestions regarding the course content, training delivery, and overall learning experience.
The feedback received was invaluable. Some comments validated the practical approach used throughout the programmes, while others highlighted areas where improvements could be made. These insights became an important source of information for continuously refining and upgrading future training sessions.
As a trainer, I strongly believe that learning is a two-way process. Every participant brings unique experiences and perspectives that contribute to the continuous improvement of the programme itself.
Invited Speaker for IEM Webinar
One of the highlights of 2021 occurred on 29 September 2021, when I was invited by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) – Project Management Technical Division to deliver a two-hour webinar on Quality Management Systems in Construction. The webinar was conducted exclusively for IEM members and focused on the practical implementation of quality management principles within construction projects.
The session provided an excellent platform to share experiences gained from working with engineers, while discussing the role of quality management systems in improving project performance and compliance. Although the webinar was conducted through the Google Meet platform and no photographs were available, the event remains one of the notable milestones in my training and professional development journey.
Looking Back
Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, 2021 demonstrated that professional learning and knowledge sharing could continue effectively through digital platforms.
The experience reinforced the importance of adaptability, continuous improvement, and embracing technology as a means of reaching a broader audience.

Should propose more short courses related with the related job
1. Very informative and refresh the importance of QMS in construction which cover all the topic.
2. For those who is new, the course on awareness of QMS in construction might be considered to be conducted.
Training contents were good and practical. If the training duration was designed to be longer, I do believe the trainer would be able to share more in detail instead of speeding up his presentation.

Minta tubuhkan badan kerajaan mengawal kualiti pembinaan o&g. Supaya inspector electrical, instrument, mechanical dan piping boleh membuat aduan secara terus kepada mereka(top level dan epcc)bagi salah laku project management melangkaui qms dlm area hazardous zone 1 dan 2.
