Training Diary 2022: Maintaining Momentum Through Continuous Learning
The year 2022 marked another productive year in my training journey. While physical activities gradually resumed across many sectors, online learning continued to be a practical and preferred option for many construction professionals due to its flexibility and convenience.
Throughout the year, I conducted 10 Quality Management System (QMS) training sessions, primarily through online platforms. Collectively, these programmes attracted close to 100 participants from various organizations within the construction industry, including contractors, consultants, developers, and quality practitioners.
Special Engagement: In-House Training for MTDC
One of the highlights of 2022 was being invited by the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) to conduct an in-house training programme on Quality Management Systems in Construction at the UPM-MTDC Technology Centre, Serdang.
The session brought together personnel from various management levels, including directors, senior management, associates, and support staff. Unlike the public programmes that primarily focused on awareness and implementation of quality management systems, this engagement provided an opportunity to discuss quality management from a client's perspective. The discussion focused on:
Understanding the quality expectations that should be imposed on appointed contractors.
Establishing effective quality monitoring mechanisms throughout project execution.
Managing contractor performance through quality-related requirements and documentation.
Implementing practical Quality Management System (QMS) principles within project and contract management processes.
Identifying key quality risks and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
The interactive nature of the session allowed participants to share their experiences and challenges in managing contractors, while exploring practical approaches to ensuring quality requirements are consistently communicated, implemented, and monitored throughout the project lifecycle.
Looking Back
While 2022 may not have featured any major milestones or significant programme changes, it reinforced the importance of consistency, commitment, and continuous improvement.
Delivering training programmes year after year has allowed me to continuously refine the content, reach a wider audience, and contribute to the professional development of construction practitioners who share a common interest in quality management.
Excellence is not achieved through one outstanding event, but through consistent effort and continuous improvement over time.

Thank you very2 much for your effect to explain the course to us, not an easy task! Just minor one, 3pm break suppose start at 3.15pm but started after 5minutes like the other break, cause usually after lunch and long time watching screen feel tire, so suggest this break 3pm one 10minutes, atleast wash our face, to toilet, make a cup of coffee...😁 and maybe can share with us some joke/funny experience happened at site and give us more your smilling face and laughing...😅 Thanks once again.
